You guys know how much of a Persona fan I am – and seeing as Persona 5 has been delayed again, I thought it’d be fitting to do this weeks Flashback Friday for Persona 3.
Memories of this game have literally only been within a few years, as I have only been playing Persona for the last few years. I don’t know how I didn’t find it before, but what matters is that I am now such a big fan, I always have one Persona game on the go. Sometimes multiple, so I can switch between the two. If I had many sets of hands and arms, I would play all the games in one go, but I don’t. I’m going off topic now, so let me just tell you why P3 is so special.
Developed and published by Atlus, Persona 3 is, chronologically, the fourth installment in the Persona series. While the games don’t follow each other necessarily, many of the same features and mechanics are the same, so jumping from one game to the other takes no time to get used to.
The story in P3 involves you taking control of a nameless high-schooler who joins a group of students who are part of a group called the Specialised Extra-curricular Execution Squad, or SEES for short – who are investigating the Dark Hour; a time that exists between one day and the next. Taking control of your hero, you traverse through a mysterious tower that appears every night during the Dark Hour using your Persona to defeat shadows and figure out the secrets that the Dark Hour holds.
I have spent many, many hours playing P3 – as not only are you able to battle whenever you choose, but you’re able to build up relationships with each character, and in turn, will grant their personas new abilities to use in battles. Not to mention the fact that you’re able to romance the character of your choice. I chose Akihiko in my playthrough of Persona 3 Portable, because crikey, he is something else all together, isn’t he? I may have a little, tiny crush on him. Is that weird?
It is incredibly easy to lose yourself in the world of Persona 3, and you will find your hours slowly racking up to well over 50+, and I loved every single second of it. Everything about Persona makes me a little bit giddy inside, like a child waking up on Christmas Day.
I hope you enjoyed this weeks FBF, make sure to look out for Jets post next week! I hope you’ve had a wonderful friday and have an awesome weekend.
