Flashback Friday | CROC

Hey all! Jet here. It’s that time of the week again and this time I’m doing the FBF on time, Hoorah! I’ve been meaning to chose this game for a couple of weeks now so here it is, Enjoy!

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was a platform video game published by Fox Interactive for the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, Microsoft Windows and Game Boy Color. You’re following the cutest little protagonist Croc, and his attempts to rescue the furry creatures known as Gobbos from the antagonist, Baron Dante. The Gobbo King Rufus is watching the sunset when he witnesses a basket floating on top of a lake, containing a baby crocodile. The Gobbos decide to raise him and train him to become one of their own. The crocodile, named Croc, eventually get older and much larger than the Gobbos.

Croc is a fond memory of mine, along with the first Tomb Raider as they are both games my mum introduced me to as she used to play them herself, very early memories for me indeed! My mum used to get so frustrated at Croc, wanting to complete the levels with me and my older brother sad around her giving her encouragement. When I got around to playing Croc I was addicted! I played it on PS1 and put more than enough hours into it and did in fact complete it, I was so proud of myself! I was only around 8/9 years old but I often played video games in hospital so I had plenty of practice and spare time on my hands to get good!

It’s games like this that actually got me into gaming in the first place, loving the happiness and thrill I felt completing each level and seeing Croc make his little sounds. ‘Wahoo! Kapow, Kersplat!’ They’re still solid in my mind as I write this. They were the days. Did any of you guys play Croc? In all honesty I’ve had conversations with many people over this game and I can count on one hand how many have said they know what it is, so many have never heard of Croc! Let me know in the comments below if you were a Croc fan. Thanks for reading as always guys, you’re awesome!

  1. i’m not sure if i ever played this. i played something like it but idk if this is it. still though, can’t beat the classics. FBF for me would have to be Final Fantasy IX, what a game that was. spent countless hours grinding level ups and just enjoying the beauty of the game. it was one of the first FF games i ever played and i love it to this day, the places were like something out of a fairytale. the characters were all different, with completely different personalities that all brought something good to the group 🙂
