Indie horror: Moirai

The Plot
(Potential spoiler alert!)
“The townsfolk tell you that a woman named Julia has gone missing. You venture out into the cave just beyond the village looking for her. You’re given a knife to protect yourself. What you find there may surprise you”

What the heck is this pixelated madness?
Now, this is going to be a tough one to talk about. If you haven’t played this game already, you should. I can’t exactly tell you why, you just have to take my word for it. Released on 26 November 13′ and developed/published by Chris Johnson, Brad Barrett, John Oestmann, Moirai has an overwhelmingly positive number of reviews, thousands in fact (8,324 to be precise) so that must count for something right? Correct.

Starting out in a little pixelated village you bump into a few locals, including a priest who explains about the missing woman and some sheep, who don’t have a lot to say. As far as indie horror games go this is probably the most simplest, confusing yet fascinating ones out there, forget your complex “Through the woods” or “Lethe”, this tops all. Okay, I’m overselling it (It’s a free to play by the way) but honestly the ending will leave you staring at your screen for a while wondering what you just experienced.

That is until you receive an email. Yes, that’s right, the game doesn’t just end there. This email you receive will shed a whole load of light on what you just wasted 10 minutes (if that) of your life on but you will smile in amazement once you have fully understood what is going on and you will want to play it again – just to see what happens the next time. I tried playing it again and it actually it wasn’t all that fun second time around. It leaves you wanting to try it again – but then you realize not a great deal changes which makes the first time that little more special. A memory to grip on to forever. I don’t really know how you talk about a game without spoiling it but it is an awesome little game and these three devs behind it really did think outside the box because in all my years of playing online games and indie games, I’ve never played one with such an outcome.

So, after that my thoughts are…
You should go to Steam right now and give this game a go, then come back here or give us a tweet  and tell us what you thought and if I just totally oversold a pixelated waste of your time. I doubt you will feel that way, but please don’t hold me accountable. I can’t give you a refund on wasted minutes.
